Knorr Meteorology 1998

Time Series Plot of Basic Meteorological Parameters from the 1998 R/V Knorr cruise

Caption: Basic meteorological parameters during the 1998 Knorr cruise. All quantities except sea surface temperature were measured from the forward "T" mast on the Knorr at an elevation of 23 m. Data were collected every second and averaged over 5 minutes. The ship was in the Labrador Sea proper for the period January 24 to February 13. Wind speeds showed typical synoptic variations and were similar, on the average, to the 1997 cruise. The wind direction was quite variable, bringing warm temperatures with southerly airflow and colder temps at other times. The most notable storms and high wind events occurred near the begining and end of the cruise.
